Monthly Games – October 2017

Let’s take a look at the games available for PlayStation Plus, Xbox Live Gold and Humble Bundle in October 2017. What’s coming to your library this time?

Monthly Games – October 2017

PS Plus Monthly Games

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (PS4)
Amnesia Collection (PS4)
Monster Jam Battlegrounds (PS3)
Hustle Kings (PS3)
Hue (Vita)
Sky Force Anniversary (Vita)

What I Think…

A damn good PS Plus collection this month! I’ve heard nothing but good things about MGS5, so I look forward to playing it at some point – assuming I can fit another open world game into my schedule! The Amnesia Collection has pretty much universal praise too, especially The Dark Descent. Great timing for anyone looking for a Halloween scare. Everything else on this list is either “good” or “great”, so well worth the investment this month.

Xbox Live Gold Monthly Games

Medal of Honor: Airborne (XB1)
Gone Home (XB1)
The Turing Test (XB1)
Rayman 3 HD (360)

What I Think…

I’m not going to lie, it’s a bit of a disappointing month for Xbox Live Gold members if you ask me. Especially compared to the PS Plus games this month. MOH:A and Gone Home are both decent games, but neither are particularly special. And that’s what I’d say about Xbox Live Gold this month in general. Maybe a 6 or 7 out of 10. But since last month was such a good one I guess it’s hard to complain!

Humble Monthly Bundle for October 2017

The Elder Scrolls: Online
Quake Champions

What I Think…

I don’t have the time to commit to MMOs these days, so I can’t really comment on TES Online. But it’s well regarded and still actively being worked on, so why not? And basically you can’t go too wrong with Quake Champions. It’s got all of the arena shooting madness of a Quake game, but with an interesting 1v1 mode as well. You might want to watch out for the loot boxes though. They seem to have infected almost every game at this point.

When Can You Get Them?

The PS Plus games always drop on the first Tuesday of the month. Xbox Live Gold staggers the release through the month. The Humble Monthly Bundle usually activates around the middle of the month. I hope my opinions have helped you work out which you’re going to play first!
