Monthly Games – September 2017

Let’s take a look at the games available for PlayStation Plus, Xbox Live Gold and Humble Bundle in September 2017. What’s coming to your library this time?

PS Plus Games for September 2017

Child of Light (PS4)
Infamous: Second Son (PS4)
Hustle Kings (PS3)
Monster Jam Battlegrounds (PS3)
RIGS Mechanized Combat League (PSVR)

So let’s get the obvious out of the way. RIGS is the first PS Plus monthly PSVR game. By itself that’s kind of cool. But the fact the game is also apparently good is a huge bonus. Since I don’t have PSVR I won’t be playing it. Infamous: Second Son is another good one and although I haven’t played it, I enjoyed the first two games (which have already been PS+ giveaways). Child of Light is a solid RPG that should keep genre fans happy for a few hours at least. The rest of the games fall solidly into the “these are fine” category, so I guess that’s okay.

Xbox Live Gold Games for September 2017

Forza Motorsport 5 GOTY Edition (XB1)
Oxenfree (XB1)
Battlefield 3 (360)
Hydro Thunder Hurricane (360)

A great selection for Xbox owners this month. I’ve said it many times before, I’m a big fan of the Forza Motorsport series. I’ve got the PC version and I’ve no reason to think the Xbox One version will be any different. More than that, it’s the Game of the Year edition, so you get even more of that content. I haven’t played Oxenfree, but I’ve watched some let’s plays and it’s a really well-made point & click horror story. Getting Battlefield 3 free can’t be bad, although I don’t imagine there’ll be many people still playing it online any more. Never heard of Hyrdo Thunder, but it looks like Wave Race 64 so will be worth checking out!

Humble Monthly Bundle for September 2017

Rise of the Tomb Raider

The Tomb Raider reboot has seen them take the series to a whole new level. You should totally play it, so grab Rise of the Tomb Raider right now if you’re a Humble Monthly subscriber!

When Can You Get Them?

Each of these services releases at different times so it’s hard to track them accurately. The PS Plus games always drop on the first Tuesday of the month. Xbox Live Gold tends to stagger the release through the month. The Humble Monthly Bundle usually activates around the middle of the month. I hope my opinions have helped you work out which you’re going to play first!
